Limited Mini-Series: Gdańsk’s Shipyard & Old Town Captured by Karl R. Lilliendahl
Gdańsk, Poland — [23.08.25] – Acclaimed Icelandic photographer Karl R. Lilliendahl announces the release of a limited black-and-white mini-series, capturing the soul of Gdańsk’s historic shipyard and old town.
Known for his cinematic style and human-centered storytelling, Lilliendahl presents a rare collection of photographs that reflect the city’s dual legacy of hard labor and quiet resistance.
This exclusive series focuses on the defining symbol of Gdańsk: the towering cranes of the shipyard, where thousands of workers once built vessels for the world. These images form a tribute to a city shaped by resilience, courage, and the spirit of Solidarność (Solidarity) — the movement that ignited historic change across Europe.
Lilliendahl’s photographs combine stark industrial presence with deeply human undertones: cranes standing like monuments, doves circling as silent witnesses, and towers that echo with stories of endurance.
“This is a small, focused body of work,” says Lilliendahl. “These cranes and streets are more than steel and stone. They hold the memory of those who worked, struggled, and resisted here. I wanted to capture that presence before time erases it further.”
Unlike his larger series from Italy, this Gdańsk project is presented as a mini-series of limited works, emphasizing its exclusivity.
Each print is crafted with archival-quality materials, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, and available only in a strictly limited number.
Collectors are encouraged to reserve early, as the series will not be reproduced beyond its initial edition.
